Remedial Massage Therapy
Remedial Massage is a complementary therapy that treats muscles and tendons that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile.
Remedial massage is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing processes.
Remedial massage aims to balance the length, tone and tension of muscles and tendons, which helps to restore the correct position of the bones. Remedial massage increases blood flow and helps to heal injuries.
Sometimes muscular issues can radiate pain to other parts of the body, Remedial massage aims to treat both the cause of the cause and the symptoms.
Your therapist will use a number of different techniques to locate and repair damaged areas of the body.
Massage modalities that may be included in treatment by our Remedial massage therapist are
Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage is a massage technique used to treat musculoskeletal issues, it involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the deeper layers of your muscles and connective tissues.
Deep tissue massage promotes faster healing by helping to increase blood flow, reducing inflammation, reducing tension in muscle and other tissues and to breaking up scar tissue that forms following an injury.
Deep tissue massage may be useful in treating muscle tension, strains and sports injuries.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a form of Remedial Massage Therapy in which direct pressure is applied to specified tender point in the muscle tissue, this will facilitate a reduction in muscle tension and pain relief.
Trigger points can become activated by inflammation, trauma, over use of muscles, electrolyte imbalances and nerve pain. Activated Trigger points can cause referred pain which can be felt in another area of the body.
